Culture and Well-Being in Southern Vietnam

A trip for you who want to experience the very best in a little less time. Exciting culture in and around Ho Chi Min City (Saigon) and the Mekong Delta. The trip ends with pure relaxation and well-being on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc.

Experience southern Vietnam in just six days. On this trip you will get up close to the history and culture of southern Vietnam. First, spend some exciting days in the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) with excursions to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Cai Rang Floating Market in the Mekong Delta. You then continue with some beautiful days the beautiful island of Phu Quoc with crystal clear water and chalk white beaches.

Day 1: Departure from Scandinavia

You fly from Scandinavia to Vietnam, where you arrive the next day.

Day 2: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh

Upon arrival at Ho Chin Minh, you will be picked up at the airport and driven to the hotel which is centrally located in the city. The rest of the day is spent on your own. The city is best experienced on foot, but if you get tired you can rent a bicycle (bicycle taxi). For example, you can walk past the Reunification Palace, China Town (which has many impressive Chinese pagodas), Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Church, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the War Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City – Cao Dai Temple – Cu Chi Tunnels

You will be picked up at the hotel after breakfast. Today it’s time for a guided tour of the Cao Dai Temple in the village of Tay Ninh, a place that is a popular pilgrimage destination for many Vietnamese. On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City, visit the Ben Dinh Tunnels in Cu Chi Province. The tunnels were used by the VietCong during the Vietnam War in an attempt to resist the Americans. Late in the afternoon you are back in Ho Chi Minh City and can spend the rest of the day on your own. ( F , L )

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh and Mekong Delta

Today, really exciting experiences await in the wide delta of the Mekong River. On the way to the delta, you drive through green rice fields to the beautiful village of My Tho. From here, the journey continues by boat down the river Tien to the island of Qui. On the way you pass small fishing villages, pole houses, boatyards, orchards and the islands Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn. Lunch is served at an orchard before a tour of the village. The visit ends with some tastings of the village’s tropical fruits while the islanders perform traditional South Vietnamese folk music. Then you can take a walk on your own and experience everyday life here in the Mekong Delta. Finally, the trip goes back to Can Tho where you will spend the night. ( F , L , M )

Day 5: The Floating Market – Phu Quoc Island

Today, the trip by boat on the narrow and picturesque tributaries goes to the vibrant market, which is Southeast Asia’s largest floating market. Every morning the river is filled with boats packed with colorful fruits and vegetables sold directly from the deck. It is a fantastic experience to see the hundreds of boats and barges that in a marvelous way manage to steer in and out of each other. It is a lively market where there are plenty of opportunities to taste Vietnamese dishes and get a little insight into everyday life. On the way, a stop is made in a small shop where you can watch when they make noodles. After a walk in the village, the tour continues to Phu Quoc. ( F , L )

Day 6: Relaxation at Puh Quoc

Spend the day just the way you want. You have many different options. You can be active and go exploring or relax with a good book at the hotel or the beach. ( F )

Day 7: Tour of Phu Quoc

After breakfast, a tour of the island is planned. Among other things, you will see: A pearl farm owned by Australians. The Coconut Prison, a prison from the Vietnam War. The fish market at the port of An Thoi. Here you get to explore the local fishermen on your own and study their daily chores. Ridgeback dog & Phu Quoc dog kennel where they breed the famous dog breed Ridgeback which originates from here. The fishing village of Ham Ninh is known for producing the world’s best fish sauce. Here you get the opportunity to visit one of the factories that make the sauce. During the excursion you will also visit Sao Beach, a wonderful beach where you get the opportunity to sunbathe and swim. ( F )

Day 8: Phu Quoc – on your own

After an exciting day, you have the day to explore the island on your own. ( F )

Day 9: Departure from Phu Quoc

After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel and driven to Duong Duong Airport.

Day 10: Arrival in Scandinavia

Arrival to Sweden. Arrival time to Scandinavia depends on which airline you travel with.
