Fortunately, there are numerous cool outdoor locations in Vienna that invite you to linger. Whether chilling on the Danube Canal, feasting on the summer stage or sunbathing in the Vienna City Beach Club – it is guaranteed not to be boring in our capital! I have summarized the most beautiful summer activities in Vienna for you – you should definitely visit these beautiful places again in the next few weeks!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUMMER ACTIVITIES IN VIENNA

Film festival on Rathausplatz

One of my favorite summer events is the film festival on Rathausplatz, which attracts every year with delicious food stalls. With the wide range of restaurants on offer, the film program takes a back seat – after all, you have to try a total of 26 stands here. From Greek to Indian there is something for every taste. By the way, after dark you can watch various pieces from the world of opera, ballet and jazz. This year the film festival lasts until September 2nd. The opening times are daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Danube Canal

With its numerous cafés and bars, the Danube Canal is one of the most popular spots in summer. In warm temperatures, you can just grab a bottle of beer and chill out by the water. If you don’t want to take your drinks with you, you can of course also sit in one of the local bars. My personal favorite is Tel Aviv Beach, which with its palm trees and sand creates a real holiday feeling. In addition to delicious Israeli specialties, you can also get unusual cocktails here. For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend Ben and Jerry’s Island, where you can comfortably enjoy your ice cream on sun loungers. If you want to spend a relaxing evening after a long day at work, the Danube Canal is the place for you.

Outdoor cinema

In summer there are numerous open-air cinemas in Vienna – be it on the roof of the main library or in the Augarten, the open-air cinemas enjoy great popularity every year. You can choose between real film classics and modern blockbusters. According to equzhou, every cinema has an individual program, so there should be something suitable for everyone. Incidentally, the open-air cinemas are also perfect for a romantic date. With such a unique atmosphere, you can quickly get closer. If you want to watch films under the stars, you can find out more on this page .

Volksgarten

Clubbing can be a real challenge in summer – after all, nobody wants to be locked in a disco with hundreds of people in temperatures around 30 degrees. Fortunately, there are several clubs in Vienna with an outdoor area where you can just dance in the fresh air. The Volksgarten, which has been an indispensable part of Viennese nightlife for several decades, should be mentioned here in particular. The popular disco has a large garden area that invites you to linger. During the summer months, the Volksgarten can also be visited during the day – the popular Techno Cafe takes place in the pavilion every Tuesday . In addition to the Volksgarten, the Pratersauna and the VIEiPEE also offer an outdoor area for celebrations.

Vienna City Beach Club

The Vienna City Beach Club is ideal for everyone who wants to combine relaxation and action. While you can chill and swim here on comfortable beach chairs during the day, the location turns into a real party hotspot after sunset. Various live DJs ensure a good atmosphere in Vienna’s No. 1 beach club and create that real holiday feeling. There is also a beach volleyball court for sports enthusiasts – so it definitely won’t get boring. You are also catered for in culinary terms – on the menu you will find smaller snacks as well as burgers and fries. The official season opening is always at the beginning of June, the program lasts until the beginning of September.

Museum Quarter

Another popular summer hotspot in Vienna is the Museumsquartier. Regardless of whether you just want to hang out on the cozy Enzis or dine in the open air – you’ve come to the right place. If you want to party in the evening, you should stop by the Cafe Leopold – on the weekends, the bear is tapping here. The Cupcakes Wien store in Mumok is also recommended – I don’t know about you, but I can never resist the little cakes!

Africa days

The Africa Days are a must for me every year and again this year lure with a varied program. From 08/10 until 08/27 you can immerse yourself in African culture on the Danube Island and experience many great events. In addition to numerous concerts, there is also an African bazaar and of course a lot of delicious food. Admission costs between € 8 and € 20, depending on the day. If you’ve never been to the brilliant festival, you should definitely do so! You can get more information on the official website of the Africa Days .

Summerstage

Warm summer evenings are best enjoyed with good wine on the Summerstage . The cool open air restaurant on the Danube Canal offers a relaxed atmosphere and a varied menu. In addition to cool drinks, there is a large selection of summery Austrian dishes, Asian wok specialties and creative desserts. Events such as concerts and readings also take place here on a regular basis – all in the open air of course. If you want to spend a relaxed summer evening, the Summerstage is the place for you.
