Sony has published what mobiles that gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and now also which ones do not.
Sony and Sony Ericsson has previously produced a wide range of smartphones, many of these are in the meantime been updated to newer versions of Android, but now leaves Sony certain mobiles.
Earlier this month we wrote about a number of Sony Xperia devices that will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but what we did not note was the mobiles Sony chose to leave and, therefore, do not update to the Jelly Bean.
Sony write on their blog that the Xperia models from 2011 has now been update for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which the company is excited to be able to offer customers, “but after careful consideration, we have decided not to update the units further,” writes the Sony Mobile.
This means that phones like the Sony Xperia Arc S, which came on the market for only about one year ago, will not be updated with Jelly Bean software, though Google tries to encourage manufacturers to update your devices in 18 months.
Sony does, however, note that 2011-units will still be updated with bug-fixes and improvements to the current Android version.
